1. Qashqai Tribal Confederacy (South)

The Farsimadan and Sish Boluki tribes of the Qashqai Tribal Confederacy have established and registered their Fund for the Sustainable Livelihood Council CBO with official authorities.

The Qashqai Tribal Confederacy consists of 6 tribes. Members of the Faresimand and Six Boluki CBO’s have negotiated for the formation of a Tribe Council and, after setting multiple consultative meetings with the Council of the Elders and the White Beards of the six tribes of the Qashqai Tribal Confederacy, the Tribe’s Articles of Association has been developed and its board members elected. Currently efforts required to register this tribe are on the agenda of its board members.

2. Shahsevan Tribal Confederacy (North West)

The Fund for the Sustainable Livelihood Council of the Shahsevan Tribe was established after formation and registration of 7 nomadic tribes from this tribal confederacy.

The customary Councils of 8 other tribes have been established but have not yet reached registration stage.

The Shahsevan Tribal Confederacy consists of 32 tribes and the establishment of a CBO for the rest of the tribes depends on the amount of support and effective activity seen by them.

3. Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy (West)

In the Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy, the CBO of mobile nomads has been formed by customary law in several tribes (Hamuleh, Farkhvand, Asanki and Sheik Ahmad Balad). Among them, the CBO of the Hamuleh tribe has been registered and the other CBOs are on track towards an official registration.

Additionally, several meetings were held with the elders of the different tribes of the Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy and at the discretion of the elders of the two great branches of the Haftland and Chaharlang the Sustainable Livelihood Council of the Bakhtiari Tribe was formed in the presence of delegates from two great branches the named greater branches. Representatives from the Haftlang tribe were: Dinarani, Bahadoruni, Durki and Babadi and representatives from the Chaharlang tribe were: Mahmoud Salah, Kinursi, Zaleqi, Mamivand and Muguyi. The Sustainable Livelihood Council of the Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy was established and registered by setting up 3 meetings in the presence of the elders of the Tribe.

The “Arpanahi Migratory Women’s Council” is an example of a self-organized and dynamic CBO that is governed by customary law and has not been officially registered.

4. Sangsari Tribal Conferacy

The Sangsari Tribal Confederacy, one of the other mobile tribes of the country, is located in Iran’s central area.

A number of workshops and meetings related to the organisation of the Fund for the Sustainable Livelihood Council for the Sangsari Tribal Conferacy were held with their White Beards and trustees, and the Fund has been registered.

The Sangsari Tribal Confederacy consists of 46 tribes, 95 families (Tireh), 120 Kheyl and 739 households.

5. Abolhassani Tribal Confederacy

The Abolhassani Tribal Confederacy is one of the mobile tribes living in the arid areas of our country. Although their population is not wide-spread, the Fund for the Sustainable Livelihood Council for the Abolhassani Tribal Confederacy has been organised and registered by official authorities, thanks to the efforts of the community’s White Beards.

This Confederacy consists of 12 mobiles tribes.

10. Chadorneshin Tribal Confederacy

The Chadorneshin Tribal Confederacy is another mobile tribe of the Iranian desert. It is organised in 9 tribes and 60 migrating households. In this Confederacy, a first consultative sitting with the Confederacy’s White Beards was held. The Confederacy’s White Beards decided to first hold the necessary talks (regarding the election of the boards of directors and the formation of Sustainable Livelihood Council) internally, and then to inform the Institute of the outcome of their sitting in order to proceed towards the establishment and registration of the Confederacy’s Council.
