3. Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy (West)

In the Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy, the CBO of mobile nomads has been formed by customary law in several tribes (Hamuleh, Farkhvand, Asanki and Sheik Ahmad Balad). Among them, the CBO of the Hamuleh tribe has been registered and the other CBOs are on track towards an official registration.

Additionally, several meetings were held with the elders of the different tribes of the Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy and at the discretion of the elders of the two great branches of the Haftland and Chaharlang the Sustainable Livelihood Council of the Bakhtiari Tribe was formed in the presence of delegates from two great branches the named greater branches. Representatives from the Haftlang tribe were: Dinarani, Bahadoruni, Durki and Babadi and representatives from the Chaharlang tribe were: Mahmoud Salah, Kinursi, Zaleqi, Mamivand and Muguyi. The Sustainable Livelihood Council of the Bakhtiari Tribal Confederacy was established and registered by setting up 3 meetings in the presence of the elders of the Tribe.

The “Arpanahi Migratory Women’s Council” is an example of a self-organized and dynamic CBO that is governed by customary law and has not been officially registered.

12. Mobile nomads of the Lorestan Confederacies and independent Tribes

The Lors mobile nomads consists of 8 confederacies (Delfan, Derikvand, Papi, Zolqi, Mamivand, Segvand, Beiranvand and Hasanvand) and 6 independent tribes (Gavkesh, Yusfand, Baba’li, Dalvand, Ka’ed, Rahmat and Sadat).

Until now a number of sittings and meetings have been held for the formation of this confederacies and independent tribes’ Council. Actions towards follow-up and registration of the Lors Confederacies are on-going.
